Country of India Research Packet and Project Activity for Social Studies

Engage students with this comprehensive India Research Packet and Project Rubric, designed specifically for middle and high school classrooms. This digital resource includes worksheets, answer keys, detailed country map pages, and a project rubric, making it perfect for social studies or geography lessons. India had one of the world’s oldest civilizations, the Indus Valley (around 2500 BCE). Powerful kingdoms ruled, including the Maurya and Gupta The Mughal Empire ruled from the 1500s to the 1800s. Britain took control in the 1700s. After years of peaceful protests, India gained independence on August 15, 1947. It became a republic in 1950 and is now the world’s largest democracy._

With this activity, students will learn this and more about the country of India including its country history, currency, symbols, geography, government and more. They will answer 30 questions about the country, including coloring the flag and labeling a provided map of the country. These questions span a total of five pages.

Then, students will use what they learned in their research to create a poster about the country. There is a provided rubric that you may pass out to students for this poster, which outlines what to include and how to make the poster. (This make the student packet a total of six pages).

This product also includes answers to every question in the student packet, teacher tips, instructional and prep directions and materials list.

By the end of this project, students will have a good knowledge about the history, culture and geography of the country of India.

To do this activity, students will need:

• Pencil

• Colored pencils, crayons, markers, etc.

• Copy of the Country Profile Research Sheet for each student

• A research device (computer, Chromebook, etc.)

• Poster materials (I.e. posters, markers, etc.)
