Ignite curiosity and motivate young learners with our comprehensive Maine Research Packet and Project! Specially designed for middle and high school students, this dynamic resource features a printable packet filled with engaging questions, project guidelines, and state-specific activities tailored to learning about Maine. Dive into interactive tasks such as mapping, in-depth historical research, and an imaginative creative project—perfect for both classroom instruction, homeschool and independent study. The set includes an easy-to-use rubric for seamless evaluation, making teaching effortless and student progress clear.

Maine was important in U.S. history for its role in the Missouri Compromise of 1820, when it was admitted as a free state to balance Missouri’s admission as a slave state. It also played a key part in shipbuilding, fishing, and maritime trade, helping to power the nation’s economy during the 19th century. With its beautiful mountains and coastlines, Maine is a great place to live and visit.

With this activity, students will learn this and more about the state of Maine, including its state symbols, state quarter, geography, government and more. They will answer 40 questions about the state, including coloring in the state flag and labeling a provided map of the state. These questions span a total of five pages.

Then, students will use what they learned in their research to create a poster about the state. There is a provided rubric that you may pass out to students for this poster, which outlines what to include and how to make the poster. (This make the student packet a total of six pages).

This product also includes answers to every question in the student packet, teacher tips, instructional and prep directions and materials list.

By the end of this project, students will have a good knowledge about the history, culture and geography of the state of Maine.
