Begin your journey through biblical history today!

The tabernacle was a structure built by the Israelites after they escaped from slavery. This structure became the house that God would dwell in. The Bible is very specific on how it was built, including most of the dimensions, etc. (you can read about it in Exodus 25-31). Students can learn about this Old Testament structure by creating a scale model of it.

To do this activity, students will receive a 10-page packet. They will read about the tabernacle and will look up specific Biblical references that talk about the construction of the tabernacle. They will answer questions and they will cut out the provided pieces, color them and glue them together.

By the end of the activity, students will make the tabernacle frame and curtain ("roof") structure, holy of holies curtain, entrance curtain. There is also an outline of the Ark of the Covenant, Altar of Incense, Table of Showbread and Lampstand (Menora) inside the model as well.

This project is specific and detailed, which is why it is recommended that upper middle school or high school age or older do this activity.
