My Birthstone: Science Research Activity

For Middle and High School

$2.25$2.00

Unleash your students' curiosity with our engaging 'My Birthstone Research Activity'! This interactive project encourages students to dive deep into the history and significance of their birthstones, researching fascinating details and documenting their discoveries. Perfect for classrooms or homeschooling, this activity not only enhances research skills but also adds a personal touch by connecting students to their birthstones.

As I teach about rocks and minerals, I often get questions from my students about birthstones: What are they? Why do we have birthstones? What is my birthstone? This activity allows students to research these questions about their own birthstone.

This activity goes well in a unit about rocks and minerals because as the students research several questions about it (i.e "is it organic?" "does it have a crystalline structure?"), they will be able to answer the question of whether or not their birthstone is a mineral.

My students loved learning about their birthstone and at the end of the project, they asked to share what they learned with the class.

To do this activity, students will need:

  • The ability to research (i.e. laptop, computer, etc.)

  • Copy of My Birthstone! worksheet (INCLUDED)

  • Pencil

This product includes:
