Santa's Christmas Reindeer Escape! Practicing Latitude and Longitude

Someone accidentally let the reindeer out and it's almost time for Christmas! Use latitude and longitude to figure out who let them out! This resource would work well in a science or social studies class.

Students will use a data table and a map of the North Pole to plot latitudinal and longitudinal points. Then, they answer questions about what they learned.

My middle schoolers and high schoolers love this activity because it is a mystery they get to solve! Students will learn how to plot points using points of latitude and longitude. If they have plotted points like this before, this activity takes it to another level as they will be looking directly at the North Pole-with lines of longitude stretching out from the North Pole in the center.

To do this activity, students will need:

• Optional: Ruler/straight edge to draw lines on map
