Discover the educational benefits of 'The Beatitudes,' an exceptional resource crafted for middle and high school students. This comprehensive resource offers in-depth lessons and engaging activities centered on the beatitudes, enriched with vivid examples of faith to inspire and educate. Ideal for both classroom, Sunday school and home study, this resource's user-friendly format ensures a seamless learning experience.

Some of the most famous sayings of Jesus came from his Sermon on the Mount. It begins with the Beatitudes (i.e. "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven). It goes through 9 sayings of those who are blessed and what they will receive as a result. Some of these sayings can be confusing, but with this packet for middle school and high school students, some of these sayings can make a little more sense.

First, students will use their Bibles to read the provided passages, including the Beatitudes in Matthew 5. Then, they will look up the provided verse references and answer questions about people in the Bible who were good examples of each Beatitude.

For example, for the beatitude "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God," students will read about Abigail and how she saved her first husband from David with a peace offering (1 Samuel 25). They will answer a question about the account.

For the beatitude "Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven," students will read about the Apostle Paul and about Job and their sufferings for being righteous. They will answer a question about each of their accounts in the Bible.

Each beatitude in this packet has three examples that the students will read and answer questions about. One example is from the Old Testament, one is from the New Testament and one is of Jesus, exemplifying the beatitude.

The last question asks the students to look back on their packets and answer who is the ultimate example of all of the beatitudes. (The answer being Jesus, because he was the only one who was answered for every beatitude).

Then, each student will be given one of the Beatitudes as their topic and they will create a mini poster about the examples they read about from the Bible and they will include two pictures. They will follow the provided rubric in the packets to make their poster.
