Geography is important in understanding many different topics. I love teaching my middle school and high school students about national parks. With these maps and quizzes, students are able to get a good grasp of where the 63 national parks are located as well as the states in which they are located.

This resource includes five different maps of the US and four different quizzes, which are based on the provided maps. It also has a sheet of a list of all the national parks in alphabetical order and all the 50 states in alphabetical order. Plus, each quiz includes an optional word bank, which allows for differentiation for your students. Here is a description of the maps and quizzes that are included below:

  • Map 1: This is a blank map of the US, including the outlines of all the states. This allows for students to fill in the 50 states and/or national park locations on their own.

  • Map 2: This is a blank map of the US, including the outlines of all the states but also has dots that mark the location for all 63 national parks. This allows students to fill in the 50 states and the national park locations, with the dots to help guide them in placing the names of the parks.

  • Map 3: This is a map of the US, including the outlines of all the states and also includes a dot to mark the location for all national parks plus it includes the names of every national park in their locations. This allows students to fill in the 50 states on their own, but they can have the national parks listed as a guide.

  • Map 4: This is a map of the US, including the outlines of all the states and includes a dot to mark the location for all national parks, plus it includes the names of all 50 states. This allows students to fill in the names of the national parks, but they can have the state names as a guide.

  • Map 5: This is a completed map of the US, including the outlines of all the states, names of all the states, dot markers and names of every national park.

  • Quiz A: This quiz includes a map of the US with every national park marked with a dot and labeled with letters (A through BK). Students are expected to use the map to name all 63 national parks based on their locations. This quiz includes a version with a word list of the national parks in alphabetical order and a version without the list.

  • Quiz B: This quiz includes a map of the US with every national park marked with a dot and labeled with letters (A through BK) plus the names of all 50 states. Students are expected to use the map to name all 63 national parks based on their locations. This quiz includes a version with a word list of the national parks in alphabetical order and a version without the list.

  • Quiz C: This quiz includes a map of the US with every national park marked with a dot and labeled with letters (A through BK). Plus, it includes every state labeled with numbers (1-50). Students are expected to use the map to name all 63 national parks and all 50 states based on their locations. You can include the extra page with two word lists: of all the national parks and all the states, each in alphabetical order.
